Stacked Series
This body of work is an exploration of a personal encyclopedia of memories, both past and present. This group of imagery was created from lists based upon my experience growing up on the coast. Other significant representations are present for aesthetic interest. These objects shift between scientific and spiritual, personal and detached. Collected and arranged in unexpected juxtapositions, remembered images stack, balance and sway. As an artist, I am interested in the tension between specific meanings and shifting contexts. My intention in this work is to engage the viewer's imagination, taking them to a place in their own memory or just invoking a sense of wonder and curiosity.
"'Curiouser and curiouser!' cried Alice (she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English); 'now I'm opening out like the largest telescope that ever was!"
